Eat Full Meals When Beginning The Dukan Diet

The Attack phase is the first phase of the Dukan diet, and this is when people tend to lose the most weight. This book did a wonderful job at listing recipes to eat during this phase, but lacked in explaining what really happens in the attack phase. I love how the author was able to break down each day of the week for the person dieting so they can get the best effect of the diet. The recipes were healthy and Stone informs that organic meats are the best.

If one is interested in getting started on the Dukan diet right away, this book is the one to download. It gives you recipes so that it's doable right away. It's in easy to read format broken up by meals. This book is short and focuses only about stage 1, so you will have to download the other Dukan books by Stone for stages 2 & 3. I do like the oat bran recipes and they really worked for me. Yes, I did lose 10 lbs in the first week but I also took appetite supplements to help stick to it. You can only stay in this stage 3-10 days depending on how much you weigh and need to lose. Then download and move on to the Cruise stage 2.

Highly recommended if you are commiting to the Dukan Diet. Guides you through a whole week of meals so it doesn't matter if you're not the best cook. Makes my mouth water just looking at the recipes! There are several other books in this series as well so make sure you get those for the full effect.

Written in an accessible and even-handed manner, Disasters without Borders it is the first comprehensive account of the key milestones, debates, controversies and research relating to the international politics of natural disasters. Tracing the historical evolution of this policy field from its humanitarian origins in WWI right up to current efforts to cast climate change as the prime global driver of disaster risk, it highlights the ongoing mismatch between the way disaster has been conceptualised and the institutional architecture in place to manage it. The book’s bold conclusion predicts the confluence of four emerging trends - politicisation/militarisation, catastrophic scenario building, privatisation of risk, and quantification, which could create a new system of disaster management wherein 'insurance logic' will replace humanitarian concern as the guiding principle.

As a huge Bowie fan, and someone who sought factual information on the enigmatic rock legend i really enjoyed this book. There is more to recommend it than the cover (best picture of Bowie ive ever seen), Buckley meets just about anyone who was ever connected with Bowie, drawing upon bandmates like Carlos Alomar and Earl Slick, as well as contributions from producers such as Tony Visconti and Nile Rodgers as well as sound masters such as Eno, to give us a fuller picture of Bowie throughout the last four decades. What i like in particular about this book is the descriptions of Bowie's 'bad times', the 74-76 period in particular is very full and well outlined. If you love Bowie, you'll love reading this. The book also tries to uncover the meaning and history behind individual classic songs such as Heroes, Station To Station and Life On Mars?, which many of the other Bowie books dont do. As a biography of course we must not automatically accept everything in the book as fact, i mean for example, Bowie didnt contribute or endorse the book - but he never supports or endorses biographies of himself anyway, so just a teeny weeny pinch of salt sometimes thoughout might be wise.

Well-written and informative, but slightly shallow

David Buckley certainly knows his subject having even written a PhD thesis on Bowie. In spite of that, this book is (in my twisted view at least) sadly not a very academic or high-brow approach to Bowie's art. Instead it is a rather straightforward biography with more emphasis on Bowie as an artist than as a person. I would have liked to see a more in-depth academical analysis of him, but I guess that wouldn't appeal to so many of his fans. Anyway, it is probably the best book on Bowie around so I recommend it. The only thing that really bothers me is the very strange collection of pictures Buckley has picked for the book. He seems to like those where Bowie has (to me at least) this really nasty, unpleasant grin. (Check out the Thin White Duke picture and the one with Bolan for example.) That is a shame I think, when he quite frankly is the most photogenic person alive.

About the Author
Anna Getmansky (PhD, New York University) is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Social and Decision Sciences and a visiting fellow in the Center for International Relations and Politics at Carnegie Mellon University. Her research interests include conflict and violence, both inter- and intra-state, and her dissertation considered the effects of domestic politics on government protection from insurgency and terrorism, and on the insurgents' and terrorists' choices of targets. At Carnegie Mellon she teaches courses on terrorism and insurgency as well as international conflict, and she previously taught international relations at NYU. Alejandro Quiroz Flores is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) at the Department of Government, University of Essex. He obtained his PhD in Politics at New York University in 2010, where he was also Clinical Assistant Professor. He specializes in Methodology, Political Economy, and International Relations. His work has appeared or is forthcoming at the British Journal of Political Science, International Studies Quarterly, Economics and Politics, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and Foreign Policy Analysis.

An excellent and inspirational book on the costs of following Christ. Recommended reading for ages 13 and up.

A real Christian life lived, simple like Jesus, and profound like Jesus

Phyllis did her job well in detailing Sundar's brief life. She begins nearly every chapter with one of his parables. Sundar was so rare an individual, having a godly mother's example and his own spiritual hunger from early youth. He was no less a sinner than the rest of us until, - until that night when everything changed and he bowed his whole being to Jesus and never looked back. For a while Sundar traveled and taught a lot (even coming to America) but was grieved by the state of the church both in Europe and here, and went home to rather minister to the Hindus and Buddhists of India and Tibet. After his conversion, Sundar's was a life lived to the full.

Wow! This is one of those crazy stories that make you realise how awesome God is! If you want to see what a life sold out to God could look like, then read this book and be amazed!
