Dr. Anupam Shukla is an associate professor in the IT Department of the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior. He has 22 years of teaching experience. His research interest includes speech processing, artificial intelligence, soft computing and bioinformatics. He has published over 120 papers in various national and international journals/conferences. He is referee for 10 international journals including Elsevier, IEEE, and ACM computing and in the editorial board of International Journal of AI and Soft Computing. He also received Gold Medal from Jadavpur University during his postgraduate studies.

Dr. Ritu Tiwari is an assistant professor in the IT Department of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior. Her field of research includes biometrics, artificial neural networks, signal processing, robotics and soft computing. She has published around 50 papers in various national and international journals/conferences. She has received Young Scientist Award from Chhattisgarh Council of Science & Technology in the year 2006. She also received Gold Medal in her post graduation from NIT, Raipur.

Rahul Kala is a student at the Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Gwalior. His areas of research are hybrid soft computing, robotic planning, biometrics, artificial intelligence, and soft computing. He has published over 25 papers in various international and national journals/conferences. He also takes a keen interest toward free/open source software. He secured All India 8th position in Graduates Aptitude Test in Engineeging-2008 with a percentile of 99.84. Rahul is the winner of Lord of the Code Scholarship Contest organized by KReSIT, IIT Bombay and Red Hat. He also secured seventh position in ACM-International Collegiate Programming Contest Kanpur Regional 2007.

If You Hate Networking, Read This!

As a consultant and coach, I have to do a lot of networking myself. I also coach people who get tired of shaking all those hands and giving out all those business cards.

Many books on networking give you clichéd information that you knew already. What Harvey Mackay does is much more than that. He shares his experiences from the time his career began to the international success he enjoys today and shows how networking made him who he is. The examples are clear and will give you truthfully everything you'll ever need to know about how to network successfully. Furthermore Mackay has a wonderful sense of humor. You'll laugh aloud as you learn.

A well rounded reinforcement of what you probably know...

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and believe, at least for me, that it is truly the only networking book I'll ever need. The stories are relevant analogies which add to the author's message.
With that said, most of what is covered are common sense ways of networking, which I found to be the underlying message of the book - "treat others with dignity and respect, show genuine concern in them, their careers, and their families, and stay in touch." Apply these simple concepts and you will have all the contacts you will ever need.
There are some unique networking approaches Harvey shares with the reader. Those are worth the price of the book alone. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others based on my belief that it serves as reinforcement of what most of us really know.

Lost: Mate of the Cave Bear, The Dualis Book Two
Oh My! Harmony Raines has done it again! And just what has she done, you ask? She has published an amazing new serial called The Dualis. Yes, I said serial which means multiple books and dare I say it - cliffhangers! Yikes! But don't despair folks! Although the serial does consist of three separate installments, fortunately for us, Raines released all three on the same day! Woohoo - no waiting! I settled in and decided to read all three in one sitting so I'm writing only one review for the entire series and will post it for each book. Never fear, there will be NO spoilers! Harmony Raines has always exhibited exceptional talent and imagination in her writing but in this series, she has far exceeded my expectation of her skill in creating something new, fresh and original that encompasses not one genre, but several. She has skillfully combined paranormal romance with science fiction and fantasy to create a fascinating and intriguing world of the past and future, filled to the brim with action, adventure, suspense, love and hope. The story is original, exciting, suspenseful, thrilling, heartbreaking, heartwarming, sweet, romantic and sensual. These are only a few of the words that came to mind while I was reading this story. The dialogue is clean, smart and flows well. The characters are intriguing, captivating and engaging. This is a romance and does include some sex scenes, however, they don't overpopulate the book. Raines has dared to venture outside the box with this story and I love it! Now, let's talk about the basics of the story itself.
The premise of the story:
It is now the twenty second century and through the use of research and technology, scientists have learned how to manipulate and alter human DNA. For too many years, children have been genetically engineered by doctors and scientists allowing parents to choose eye color, body type and even gender. These developments have contaminated the gene pool and brought evolution to a halt. The world is now in desperate need of new blood, or rather uncontaminated blood from the past with new stem cells.
Now for the plot of the story:
Tworn Corporation has developed a time machine which can create a worm hole enabling a person to travel through the time. It is their intention to send a young woman 30,000 years into the past to find a primitive man, become pregnant with his child and then return through the wormhole by means of a tether, to the future. Her child would be used for the benefit of mankind and become the savior of the world. Huh? No pressure - right? Jenna is chosen to be that woman because she met several vital and important requirements. She has no fillings in her teeth, he's never had any broken bones or surgical procedures and most importantly, she's a virgin meaning she nor her DNA has ever been tainted by a male from her time. She considers herself to be unattractive and unremarkable. Obviously Tworn Corporation agrees and believes there is absolutely nothing to distinguish her as being from the twenty second century. Although some may see this opportunity as a great honor, Jenna is not doing this for recognition nor the advancement of mankind. She's simply doing it for the money. Now don't start thinking badly of Jenna just yet. She wants the money for purely unselfish motives - her mother became terminally ill and as a result, Jenna inherited the astronomical debt for the medical bills after her mother's death. She's from a very poor family and could never live long enough to pay off the debt, so here she is, about to travel back in time. She's given six months of training to prepare her for her journey but Jenna soon suspects there is much more to this mission than Mr. Trimble with Tworn Corporation is telling her but she has no idea what it could be. She begins to have her doubts but fears for her safety if she doesn't complete her mission. But they never prepare her for the entry into the land of the past and I mean that quite literally because she tumbles from the wormhole high above the ground with nothing to help to break her fall. She plummets into a heavily forested area and is seriously injured. She is found by Haran who is a Dualis, a primitive, a "cave bear", who reluctantly and begrudgingly nurses her back to health. This is how Haran refers to himself - a cave bear, a Dualis, meaning of two natures, man and beast. Haran is a primitive bear shifter and lives alone in a cave. After the heartbreaking loss of his parents at a young age, he has chosen to be alone and never take a mate. But Haran soon discovers that fate can never be denied. The attraction he feels for the strange young woman proves to be too strong to resist and he quickly falls in love with the beautiful, curvaceous Masu that falls from the sky. She should be his enemy, not his mate. Huh? He only kills for food but the Masu hunt and kill for the pleasure they draw from cruelty and fear. She is Masu - or is she? She is not to be trusted! Nope, never going to happen - he will resist! He will??? Jenna has no clue that she looks like the Masu, his enemy. Heck, she doesn't even know who they are but one thing she does know, she's in just as much danger from the Masu as is Haran. Well, maybe she knows two things because she also knows that she's incredibly attracted to Haran and she wants him - in her arms and in her bed, or should I say her furs - forever. Jenna now realizes that quite possibly, she may never want to give up her child if she becomes pregnant nor return to her own time! What? Will Jenna survive her injuries? Will she survive the Masu? Will she become pregnant? Will she ever return to her time? Can Haran protect her from his enemies? Or will Haran perish in his fight with the Masu? Are there other shifters in this time and if so, where are they and will they help? Oh my! No spoilers here but I will say this......Beautiful, virtuous heroine-check! Sexy, primitive but intelligent bear shifter-check! Large cast of fascinating characters including other types of shifters-check! Oops! Uh-oh! I may have just let a little spoiler slip out! Danger, drama, suspense, action, heinous enemies and evil machinations-check! Heated attraction, sweet romance, heartbreaking angst and some heartwarming, arousing sex-you bet! That and a whole lot more!
Execution of the story:
My personal opinion - Well done! I'm not a science/tech geek so I don't require a detailed scientific or technical explanation on how the time travel was actually accomplished, but I was totally captivated by the true essence and message of this story - love can prevail. Remember folks, this is fiction and fantasy, so keep an open mind. If you want to try something original and a little different yet quite refreshing, then this is the book for you. Deliciously sweet, completely captivating and delightfully entertaining!

Excellent Story!!!

This story is simply fantastic. Such an original storyline with great characters including our very loving and happy couple, Jenna and Haran. I sat down to read the first part of this story, but had to read all three because I just had to know. I won't give away more than the description reveals, but this is so far removed from the average shifter story, you will all love it!! I also feel a series coming from this too, because of a certain black panther.

Much better than the first book

This second part of a three book series was much better. More action and more character development in this third. I am hooked now to read on to find out what happens in the conclusion. Again I have read this for free not sure if I would have paid money to read this three series book that really should have been one book combined.

Spreading the Magic!

In another fun book by Barbara Prignano, "Anthony and the Magic Bumblebee" brings back Anthony, Joseph and their garden. Joseph waters the garden regularly, and while water helps plants to grow, the Magic Bumblebee teaches the children that pollination is required to produce more plants. With the Magic Bumblebee sprinking his magic and spreading plant pollen, new, tall, and healthy sunflowers soon begin to grow.

Cute characters and illustrations also help to introduce young readers to plant science and hopefully open their minds to the great mysteries of one of nature's most important processes.

Anthony and the Magic Bumblebee is a very enjoyable book. My daughter loves it. She has me reading it to her at story time every day which I am happy about since I enjoy it too. It's filled with lots of love and affection.

Anthony and the Magic Bumblebee is as adorable as the first book How Bunnies Got Their Cottontails.

This book is very well written and the illustrations are adorable.

Looking forward to the next one!

This cute story about a small bumblebee that uses his magic dust for pollination teaches children the basics of how growing plants and flowers need more than just water. It's also a nice story about contributing to the family, and appreciating grandparents!! No wonder this book has won a couple of awards.

My work on behalf of the National Landlords Association and as a trainer for the Midlands Landlords Accreditation Scheme, involves keeping up to date with everything about renting in the UK and brings me into contact with thousands of landlords and others who are involved in the business. I engage with many more landlords through discussion fora on internet sites and this too adds to my learning.
In this book I have explained why investing in property for rent in the UK may no longer be “as safe as houses”. I have explored the issues which are causing my concern and I have reported on my findings. I have tried not to impose my own opinions, preferring you to draw your own conclusions and to carry out further investigations.
The subjects I have explored include, the future of financing your investments, the dangers of buying below market value, regulation and legislation and how it is stifling private renting, the uncertain future of the student letting market, the changes made under Welfare Reform and the impacts these might have on rent arrears, the future of Letting and Managing Agents and other important issue. We all know that the private rented sector (PRS) is now a vital part of the housing provision in the UK but landlords are often seen as the “fat cats” and since many people are struggling to pay their bills we are attracting the attention of those who resent us and some who see us as potential cash cows.
The lenders are now wary of supporting landlords who let to some tenant groups and in particular they seem to have completely misunderstood the licensing of residential properties. At the same time local authorities see licensing as a means of raising revenue under the guise of improving standards. More licensing and less money available to investors leaves landlords with a ready market but no means to access it.
Those of us who have already invested in HMO’s are now at risks from the use of Article 4 Directions because of the requirement to provide evidence of established use. Those of us who have concentrated on families or single occupancy are facing the fact that, in the present economic climate, any of our tenants can become reliant on benefits to pay their rent. Welfare reforms have not only reduced the level of support to tenants, future changes may also increase the level of rent arrears, this has been proven in the areas where Universal Credit is being piloted.
Letting to students has, for many years, been seen as very lucrative and a safe investment but the huge increase in purpose built student accommodation coupled with the increase in fees being charged by universities is already decreasing the number of tenants living in privately rented properties and changes to immigration rules are set to reduce the number of students from coming overseas to study in the UK.

Despite what they say men like Thompson are not like ordinary businessmen

As the title suggests a look at the type of "gentleman" criminal that seems to have been replaced by a more violent random type. Thompson's life was hard and unforgiven and Reg McKay expresses it well.
There is a large cast of the type of men you wouldn't want to meet at night or any other time of the day and enough violence, betrayal, and self justification to leave the ordinary law abiding citizen shaking their head in both dismay and disbelief.
Despite what they say men like Thompson are not like ordinary businessmen, neighbours or parents and it is good to see a warts and all presentation of this fact.

the real no mean city!

This book was a fantastic read, even if it was a little graphic at times. I was brought up in Glasgow and left for NY 23 years ago so I don't remember much about this(except for the ice cream wars which I witnessed one night when 2 guys got out a car and smashed all the windows in the vans as i was waiting in line). The book really reminded me of the non fiction version of No Mean City!
Reg Mckay did a wonderful job of offering just a little bit of information at the end of each chapter of what was coming up in the next that made it tough to put the book down and call it a night.
